Lewis Evans aged 14 from Retford Road in Sheffield died form his injuries in Rotherham District General Hospital in the early hours of 31-01-06. Lewis was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his right leg and pelvis area.
It is reported that Lewis, a year 10 pupil at Handsworth Grange School, was riding an unlit off road motorcycle along Retford Road, towards Handsworth Road at around 1712 hours on Sunday 29 January 2006.
A Fiat Punto car, being driven by a 18 year old man from the Sky Edge area of the city was travelling in the opposite direction along Retford Road, towards Woodhouse.
The Punto driver commences a right hand turn in to Horsewood Road and collided with the motorcycle that Lewis was riding.
Lewis has been described by his teachers as a popular student.
His family are devastated by the loss of the youngest of their two sons.

Easy Lew, just thought I would pass by and write you a quick message so you know I haven't forgotten about you. You always cross my mind, when I drive past your house I always look and smile remembering all the good times we had together! I was on badger field the other day and remembered the time just after Christmas when you gave me a backie on your bike and I was telling you to not go too fast because of the snow and it slipping but you were careful with me on it and didn't go too fast lol.I haven't been to see you for a while because I'm working near enough everyday but your always in my mind and heart mate don't forget that..

hiya lewis its me ginny, i no you may not remember me. i couldnt believe it when i heard about what happened, we came straight down to see your mum and it was so emotional after all we hadn't seen each other for like 8years, you will always be my best friend i have pictures of us aged 5 sitting in the garden looking a mess and also when we went fishing with my dad. i remember the last time i saw you and we went for a walk over the field and spent hours talking about how much we had changed. im sorry we didnt keep in touch there isnt a moment that i dont think of you. i have a daughter now called chloe an i show her pictures of you and i always say "this is mummys best friend". you will always be in my heart and i will treasure every memory i shared with you i know you are sleeping with the angels now just save a seat for my up their so we can cause trouble like we use to lol. i miss you xxxxx

I Cant Believe How Long It Has Been Lew! It Will always seem like just yesterday you was here with us! Its been 4 Long Years Coping without You Babe. Its Been Hard. And I Still ask why?,,, And its always the same conclusion,, because it's the only one that makes sense, " you were needed as an angel, to protect us below" And you're doing an excellant job darling! I walked Down to the JET the other day,, all the way i was thinkin off when we used to walk down together, to sit on the green box with everyone, haha. where i first met you properly. i'll always remember that day. Because it was that day you entered my life. and i will always be thankful you did babe! Was with your mum the other day up handsworth we had a right chat and giggle it was a laugh.
Just talked about life and how short it is and some more stuff.
But i haven't forgot about you mate, your always in the back of my head!
